Fermi-FET Technology

ABSTRACT


Fermi-FET transistor technology can lead to significant improvement in circuit performance, layout density, power requirements, and manufacturing cost with only a moderate alteration of traditional MOSFET manufacturing technology. This technology makes use of a subtle optimization of traditional buried channel technology to overcome the known shortcomings of buried channel while maintaining large improvements in channel mobility. This technology merges the mobility and low drain current leakage of BCA devices as well as the higher short channel effect immunity of SCI devices. This paper highlights aspects of the technology in a non-mathematical presentation to give a sound general understanding of why the technology is the most promising avenue for advanced very short devices.

Chameleon Chips

ABSTRACT


Chameleon chips are chips whose circuitry can be tailored specifically for the problem at hand. Chameleon chips would be an extension of what can already be done with field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAS). An FPGA is covered with a grid of wires. At each crossover, there’s a switch that can be semipermanently opened or closed by sending it a special signal. Usually the chip must first be inserted in a little box that sends the programming signals. But now, labs in Europe, Japan, and the U.S. are developing techniques to rewire FPGA-like chips anytime–and even software that can map out circuitry that’s optimized for specific problems.

The chips still won’t change colors. But they may well color the way we use computers in years to come. It is a fusion between custom integrated circuits and programmable logic.in the case when we are doing highly performance oriented tasks custom chips that do one or two things spectacularly rather than lot of things averagely is used. Now using field programmed chips we have chips that can be rewired in an instant. Thus the benefits of customization can be brought to the mass market.

Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi)

ABSTRACT


Wi-Fi, which stands for “Wireless Fidelity”, is a radio technology that networks computers so they connect to each other and to the internet without wires.It refers to wireless LAN products based on the IEEE 802.11b specification.Users can share documents and projects,as well as an internet connection among various computer stations.

A Wi-Fi network operates just like a wired network, without restrictions imposed by wires .Not only does it enable users to move around and be mobile at home and at work, it also provides easy connections to the internet and business networks while travelling.

The technologies used in this field are one of the best in the wireless space. When compared with other fast improving technologies like Bluetooth and 3G, Wi-Fi is seen to have many advantages. We can setup networks at home and office using Wi-Fi . It is fairly easy to setup a Wi-Fi enabled network at home or a small office. Wi- Fi is several times faster than Bluetooth and operates like a high speed modem.

There are many security issues that come under Wi-Fi . The main problem that it has till now is that it is easy for hackers to attack the network. The security method that is used now is the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy).The new VPN (Virtual Private Network) method seems to correct everything that is wrong with WEP.
