Cell Phone Virus and Security

ABSTRACT


As cell phones become a part and parcel of our life so do the threats imposed to them is also on the increase. Like the internet, today even the cell phones are going online with the technologies like the edge, GPRS etc. This online network of cellphones has exposed them to the high risks caused by malwares viruses, worms and Trojans designed for mobile phone environment. The security threat caused by these malwares are so severe that a time would soon come that the hackers could infect mobile phones with malicious software that will delete any personal data or can run up a victim s phone bill by making toll calls.
All these can lead to overload in mobile networks, which can eventually lead them to crash and then the financial data stealing which poises risk factors for smart phones. As the mobile technology is comparatively new and still on the developing stages compared to that of internet technology, the anti virus companies along with the vendors of phones and mobile operating systems have intensified the research and development activities on this growing threat, with a more serious perspective.

Service Oriented Architecture

ABSTRACT


SOA is a design for linking business and computational resources (principally organizations, applications and data) on demand to achieve the desired results for service consumers (which can be end users or other services). Service-orientation describes an architecture that uses loosely coupled services to support the requirements of business processes and users. Resources on a network in a SOA environment are made available as independent services that can be accessed without knowledge of their underlying platform implementation. These concepts can be applied to business, software and other types of producer/consumer systems.

The main drivers for SOA adoption are that it links computational resources and promotes their reuse. Enterprise architecture believe that SOA can help businesses respond more quickly and cost-effectively to changing market conditions. This style of architecture promotes reuse at the macro(service) level rather than micro(objects) level.

The following guiding principles define the ground rules for development, maintenance, and usage of the SOA
• Reuse, granularity, modularity, composability, componentization, and interoperability
• Compliance to standards (both common and industry-specific)
• Services identification and categorization, provisioning and delivery, and monitoring and tracking.
One obvious and common challenge faced is managing service metadata. Another challenge is providing appropriate levels of security. Interoperability is another important aspect in the SOA implementations.

A Search Engine for 3D Models

ABSTRACT


As the number of 3D models available on the Web grows, there is an increasing need for a search engine to help people find them. Unfortunately, traditional text-based search techniques are not always effective for 3D data. In this paper, we investigate new shape-based search methods.
The key challenges are to develop query methods simple enough for novice users and matching algorithms robust enough to work for arbitrary polygonal models. We present a web-based search engine system that supports queries based on 3D sketches, 2D sketches, 3D models, and/or text keywords. For the shape-based queries, we have developed a new matching algorithm that uses spherical harmonics to compute discriminating similarity measures without requiring repair of model degeneracies or alignment of orientations. It provides 46{245% better performance than related shape matching methods during precision-recall experiments, and it is fast enough to return query results from a repository of 20,000 models in under a second. The net result is a growing interactive index of 3D models available on the Web (i.e., a Google for 3D models).

Coding and Modulation for a Hostile Channel

ABSTRACT


Designing a system able to cope with a hostile channel is a typical challenge for data communication Engineers. High- data- rate communication over power lines is an exemplar case: while power lines are potentially convenient and in expensive “no new wire” medium for data transmission their features make it very difficult to design a simple modem. This paper illustrates main features of hostile channel, and some of the solution advocated for modem design.
